Registration Information
At the beginning of each school year and when registering for the first time, all families must provide proof of residency in the Brown Deer School District (with the exception of students who have been accepted through Open Enrollment, or qualify for a Tuition Waiver). Please read Enrollment in the Brown Deer School District for complete details.

Non-Resident Attendance Information
Wisconsin law requires that a student attend school in his/her district of residence or pay tuition to attend in another district. However, there are programs that allow students to attend in a non-resident district without paying tuition. These programs include Open Enrollment and Tuition Waiver. Each of these programs has different requirements.
Tuition Waver
Students who live in Brown Deer and attend Brown Deer Schools but move out of the district, may be able to continue attending if they are eligible for a tuition waiver. Depending on the move date, a student may be eligible to complete the current school year and/or the following year. Forms are available in the schools’ or district office, and on the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) website. Parents should notify the school as soon as they move and request the Tuition Waiver Request form. Parents who do not inform the school of a move, may miss the opportunity for their children to continue attending if they miss specific application deadlines.
Open Enrollment
Students who are not residents of Brown Deer or are not eligible for a tuition waiver, may be able to attend through the Open Enrollment program. In January of each year, the Brown Deer Board of Education typically makes a limited number of seats available to students applying through the Open Enrollment program. Applications may be completed on-line or at the District office, and must be submitted during the application period in February, for the following school year. Parents will be informed in early June if their children have been accepted or denied for attendance through the Open Enrollment program. Chapter 220
Brown Deer reached the required participation rate several years ago and therefore may no longer accept new students in the program.
