Brown Deer Middle School has a new Principal, Mr. Jim Young. Mr. Young joins BDMS with a decade of school leadership experience having served students in the roles of Dean of Students, Network Facilities, Purchasing Manager, and Assistant Principal.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mr. Young has lived in the Milwaukee area since 2010. He graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Business Management before taking a job in Corporate America.
After a few years as a supply chain manager, Mr. Young entered the education world and graduated from Marquette with a Master’s Degree in Educational Policy and Leadership. Mr. Young also holds a Master’s degree in Administrative Leadership from Alverno College. He served six years in the Air Force Reserves, including a tour in Kirkuk, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Mr. Young lives in the North Shore with his wife and two kids (Lucy – 3, Otis – Born 1/1/22). Having two young children and working in education keeps Mr. Young busy, but when he has free time he loves to watch sports and attend games, customize sneakers, and try new restaurants.
Mr. Young is excited to join the School District of Brown Deer. He believes that all students can be successful and it is the job of a school to show students what they are capable of. Mr. Young looks forward to partnering with the students, staff, and families of Brown Deer Middle School.
Welcome Mr. Young!
