ACP Purpose
High School Academic and Career Planning provides an opportunity for students to personalize their educational experience. The ACP process starts at the elementary level and evolves over time to help students identify their interests, strengths, and career pathways. The process bridges academic classroom learning with the steps needed to identify a potential career choice. By exploring three questions, Who Am I?, Where am I Going?, and How do I Get There?, students can gain a better understanding of their potential career paths and post-secondary education options.
The ACP process involves various activities such as self-assessment, career exploration, and setting academic and career goals. Through resources such as career assessments, career fairs, job shadowing, and internships, students can explore different career paths and develop soft skills such as communication, problem-solving, and teamwork. These skills are highly valued by employers and essential for success in any career.
Overall, the ACP process is a valuable tool for high school students. It helps them personalize their educational experience and set goals that align with their interests and abilities. By exploring different career options and developing essential skills, students are better prepared for success in the future.
