Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment Application Process for the 2025-2026 School year will open on February 3rd, 2025 and close on April 30, 2025 at 4:00 p.m.

The inter-district public school open enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend public school in a school district other than the one in which they reside.

The Open Enrollment application period for non-resident students for the 2025-2026 school year is from February 3, 2025 and April 30, 2025.  It is recommended that parents apply online for this program. You may also apply in person at the district office by completing a paper application.  You may select up to three (3) schools when applying.

There were no available special education seats for the 2025-2026 school year. 

This decision was based on current enrollment numbers, class sizes, and projected enrollment for the 2025-26 school year.

If there are more applications than spaces, the Board will fill the available spaces by random selection, provided that first priority will be given to non-resident students already attending Brown Deer Schools and their siblings.

If the district determines that space is not otherwise available for open enrollment students in the grade or program to which an individual has applied, the district may nevertheless accept a student or the sibling of a student who is already attending in the district.

Students already attending the School District of Brown Deer through the Open Enrollment program do not need to reapply.

How to Apply for Open Enrollment

The online application is available on the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction website at https://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment. 

Parents should note that there is no transportation provided through the Open Enrollment program, regardless of proximity to a school or bus route. Parents are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from school.
